Before Your First Visit

What are the common reasons for referral?

Referrals for services commonly are made by physicians, parents, self-referrals by adults, school districts, attorneys, and advocates. The identified client’s age ranges from birth through adult. Presenting problems may vary from child and adolescent social, emotional, educational and behavioral difficulties; evaluations to determine diagnosis and treatment planning; evaluation of the appropriateness of a child’s educational program; and to assist physician’s gain information to better prescribe medication.

How is an appointment made?

Call 732-873-1212 for the receptionist who will obtain background information and a brief description of the problem. An initial appointment for an evaluation will be arranged with a doctor based on expertise, availability, and preference. A detailed plan will then be presented, questions will be answered, and mutually agreed upon decisions will be made regarding the next step.

Where are we located?

BTA, in central New Jersey, is in an office complex on the corner of Clyde Rd. and Churchill Ave. in Somerset, NJ. We are approximately 10 minutes from downtown New Brunswick and 30 minutes from Princeton. Click the link to the left for a map to our office.

What other services are provided?

BTA provides continuing education for teachers, physicians, and mental health professionals on a wide variety of topics related to cognitive behavior therapy. In addition, case consultation and clinical supervision can be arranged on an individual basis. Social skills training and Summer Social Skills Programs are integrated within our treatment modality. BTA also provides comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to assess learning disabilities, developmental delays, AD/HD, etc. Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans are provided as well.

What about fees?

A range of fees exists and many services are covered by health insurance. Each individual is responsible for payment for all fees at the time that service is delivered. BTA will provide statements with appropriate codes to facilitate reimbursement. Visa and Mastercard are acceptable forms of payment.
